Good News! The AMA is Going to Help With Physician Burnout, Too.

Not to be outdone by the AAFP, the AMA wants to show you how much they can help your burnout too.  This is a paid post on Facebook by the American Medical Association. Remember, this is the same group that created the Relative Value Unit, which pays primary care the least.  That has caused burnout.  They also make money off the coding that has taken years off our lives.  That has caused burnout.  They have agreed to all the quality metrics.  That has caused burnout.   In fact, one could say that the AMA has not only been complicit in causing physician burnout out but now they want to profit from it as well.

In fact, I think that this may be the most ridiculous ad for an organization I have ever seen.  They are a life coach?  An office manager?  A calculator?  What has that got to do with burnout?  They want to extinguish physician burnout?  Are you kidding me?  AMA is more like kerosene igniting physician burnout and yet they put this propaganda out like this ad.

What do you think?  Am I wrong on this?

The AMA is responsible for the worst thing to happen to American medicine at least until I left it in 2012, the 1995 and 1997 E and M guidelines, the beginning and most profound intrusion into doctors’ time sapped for no benefit. What if every ROS was instead a measure on time spent on giving, and convincing the patient through appropriate use of time that you’re giving, the best possible diagnosis and treatment advice or even if we’d simply asked about exercise and stool testing instead for a couple decades. How many lives would be saved?

I let my AMA membership lapse, too. The only way my membership was like a life coach, calculator or office manager was they all cost money.

My guess is this ad is aimed at students and residents that have little concept of real world medicine and what the AMA is.

With the money that the AMA gets for licensing the CPT codes to Big Government and Big Insurance, which is in excess of $200 million per year, they could invest in some health care lawyers to strongly advocate for MDs and that would decrease burnout. Just a thought, AMA….

Break my leg and give me a crutch. No, break my leg and then SELL me a crutch. I don’t think so.

Agree! This is a load of BS! This is one (of many) reasons I dropped my membership years ago. Debating whether to drop my memberships in specialty organizations too, as they are all “part of the problem, NOT the solution”.

They resemble the trade unions and Party in repressive regimes. They claim to “represent the workers” but instead herd them as dumb animals. They work for the Ranch.
