Marriage Extends Life
A new study in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine shows that being people “entering midlife single face more than twice the risk of dying early than those who are part of a permanent partnership.” In other words, married people live longer. On a side note, the majority of subjects in the study who were married did, however, wish they could die earlier.
Ok, that last line was made up and my wife will probably be pissed but I couldn’t help myself.
Less stigma to divorce these days so people can get out of less than
ideal marriages. Wonder how many in the study were second and third timers? 😉 Costs a mere pittance to get into but 2/3rds of what you own to get out of by the time the lawyers are through with you. :-0
I think they got it wrong. Marriage won’t extend ones life, it just seemed that way to the researchers.
Depends on the marriage. My divorce will extend my life, for sure. Getting away from an abuser was a life-saving move for me.
Sadly, the RV’s clogging up the two-lanes, and the AARP crowd bothering the hotels and restaurants here on the gulf coast for senior discounts attest to the validity of this study. Maybe jewelers should start giving away a free “Miracle Ear” with every new ring purchase.
