Petty Jerks
So a patient posted on Reddit their bill for their c-section. It turns out when the nurse asked the mom if she would like to do skin to skin after the baby was born it cost $39.35. You can go to this site and see more info on why they may have charged this amount but is the system really that broken that human contact costs money. So sad. It does show how sharing this info may be a way to expose this crap and fix it.
All part of the ‘theater of the absurd’ that is current day medicine.
That does it! The problem was set out in 1913 by Joyce Kilmer. I shall blog the answer to this puzzle tomorrow.
It shows the absurdity when one tries to break down a process into elements of product. “Skin-to-skin” is not a codeable product. It is part of labor and delivery. Those who insist on it being something that be coded are fools. Those who insist that Labor and Delivery not be paid adequately without such documentation, are fools. I hope that they all deliver their children in the L&D box (https://authenticmedicine.com/midlevelbox/) and pass away in the Hospice Box. Serves ’em right.
I can assume then that the hospital offers a discount if this “service” is turned down?
