Ridiculous Study of the Week: Smoking is Bad For You

A new study in Circulation called Cigarette Smoking and Incident Heart Failure: Insights From the Jackson Heart Study  was highlighted in Family Practice News because “cigarette smoking is an important risk factor for heart failure in blacks, according to results of an investigation of patients in the Jackson Heart Study.” So, wait, smoking is bad for any race?

Hospitalization for heart failure among blacks was associated not only with current smoking but also with smoking intensity, measured in cigarettes per day, and smoking burden, measured in pack-years, reported Daisuke Kamimura, MD, PhD, of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, and associates.

Yes. Smoking is bad. And it turns out the more you smoke the worse it is.

Yes, but is it also bad for female-identified transgendered heteronormative homoerotic left-handed sex workers?

Better do another study, just to be sure (and to collect a few more bucks from the NIH).
