I got a PhD in Comparative Literature. I make my living from the two year nursing degree I got afterwards. If I had to do it all over again I would have gotten a BSN and not started a real career at age 36. Or better yet, been a veterinarian.

Bob Dylan, in one of his songs, wrote, “…20 years of schooling and they put you on the day shift.” Now, after 20+ years of the most arduous education imaginable, not to mention incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, you may (if you’re lucky) be hired by some ACO or hospital as a Nocturnist! All this, for a salary which will ensure a life of debt.
Oh, well. I suppose it’ll be O.K., since NP’s, PA’s, and the pharmacist at the local chain drugstore can provide the high quality of care that will be missing when nobody who can perform simple arithmetic will consider going to medical school.

I majored in History and did a residency in Family Practice. If I had it to do all over again … I would still major in history.

Higher Education keeps getting Higher in Cost and Lower in Usefulness.
If I were 20 years old, I would finish a 4 year ‘cheap’ college just to get a degree and charge into a quality network marketing company for a lifetime of leveraged, residual income.
