Tattoos and Alcohol
You are not going to believe this but a new study just came out in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research and it found that people with tattoos consume more alcohol than those without tattoos. This is not a joke. Someone is funding these things. No kidding they drink more. Maybe, just maybe, that is why some of them got the tattoos in the first place? “The researchers suggest educators, parents and physicians consider tattoos and piercings as potential “markers” of drinking, using them to begin a conversation about alcohol consumption and other risky behaviors.” Brilliant conclusion.
Gee, you think? Wonder who paid for that?
When I was in medical school back in the early 1950’s, the head of the Pathology Department felt that the presence of a tattoo on a cadaver was a clear indication that the individual probably had syphilis.
There was a commercial many years ago for Tip Top bread. Spokesperson Emily Tipp was on an elevator with a man who said something to the effect that he could show his tattoo of a lightbulb on his head whenever they came up with a new idea. When Emily asked why he had a lightbulb tattooed on his bald head, he muttered, “It was New Year’s Eve and it seemed like a good idea at the time.”
Your article reminded me of that. Thanks for the memory jolt!
Holy cats*%t Batman! Who woulda thunk? Somewhere there is a Nobel Prize with these guys name on it….right next to the one they gave Obama.
