The Impossible Has Happened
Check this NPR article out. The “elite” medical schools are getting into what they call the next frontier of medicine – primary care. You may remember how I used to gripe about all the quotes used in mainstream media by professors from these schools pontificating about the shortage of family practitioners. It was so surreal because MOST if not ALL didn’t even have a department of family medicine! Now I have to leave them all alone, I guess. Hey, maybe they will even help put this specialty where it needs to be or at least fight back against the LELTs? Today I can walk tall because the most respected ivory tower folks approve of what I do. Written with tongue-in-cheek.
I’ve loved your work with the Placebo Journal and the awareness you bring to medical bureaucracy. However, as a proud “LELT”, I’m saddened at your need to “fight back” against us “LELT”s. I never purport to be as trained or experienced as a physician and like to see us all on the same team- for the patients and working to change the medicine climate. My tolerance for what I see as badmouthing my profession has worn thin today. I’m unsubscribing. Good luck with the fight.
Good bye and good luck. I will not apologize. Your organization/profession started the fight by claiming cooperation but instead decided to compete with us. Game on. Don’t draw first blood then get pissed when people defend themselves.
