This is a long NBC piece but it is well done. This is why medical marijuana is mostly BS and abused. Check out Venice Beach and the douchebag, sellout doctors who peddle their wares. I am not saying weed can’t be medicinal but it has to be done wisely with laws that can be enforced.
If you haven’t heard of Larry Weed MD then you don’t know SOAP. Yup, he…

At age 77, I’ve never used pot, although I dam near killed myself with booze. I wouldn’t hesitate to use pot to relieve pain/anxiety if things ever got that bad, but I don’t need artifical fun. Why should we waste money on DEA research before changing the laws? Why can’t we do both? I’d rather see society spend money stamping out poison ivy and Scotch broom, if we’re going after weeds. Its present legal status IS a cash cow for the prison industry/law enforcement/gangsters, and the worst-hit victims are poor and/or minority.

If THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, is a drug, it should undergo the same types of research and safety testing as any other drug. Then, it can be approved by the FDA for specific conditions. The video shows a grower taking marijuana for “back pain”, and a distributor using it for anxiety and “a GI disorder”. I don’t think either indication has any research behind it.
In addition, can you imagine anyone proposing a drug delivery system consisting of leaves of varied and unquantifiable potency, which are then lit on fire and the patient inhales the smoke? This has to be the most irreproducible, inconsistent, dangerous drug delivery system I’ve ever heard of.
If marijuana has good, legitimate indications to treat disease and disorders, let’s have the science, and let’s administer/distribute it like any other medication. Let’s use THC, not burning leaves of “Dog Shit” marijuana.
I urge everyone to do a Google search on the drug Marinol, a.k.a. dronabinal. We have THC, medically available now. Why legalize marijuana for medical use?

I agree with Doug on this one. Pot is definitely a gateway drug and it is not so benign. It is very rare to find someone who only smokes it at home and then doesn’t drive.
In our state, the ones who have the pot shops are the same ones who worked with big tobacco to fight the second hand smoke laws. The big corporations love it because it’s the opiate of the people, and the people sit around fat and happy while big tobacco, oil etc write our laws in their favor, and the middle class goes bye bye/

Horrors! Children walking by a grove consisting of a plant that can grow wild, essentially, everywhere on earth.
What is a weed? Any plant thats growing someplace you don’t want it.
You can thank Ronald Raygun for the long-lived, current “War on Drugs” and DIICs that enforce it (Drug, Interdiction Industrial Complexes). If it weren’t for him acclerating the monetization of the DEA (In his time, for the interdiction of the Miami Cocaine Cowboys of the early 80s) We could’ve had ~$35 billion spent on Drug abuse treatment, education _and_ legalization. Likely most of the $35b could’ve remained in taxpayer’s pockets – or some could’ve been spent on other initiatives like student loans being grants instead of loans. How about public school funding? Or just letting the lower and middle class keep more of their earnings?
Don’t forget every US state has a budget for the DIICs too. Now the DIICs are in place and it’ll be nigh on impossible getting them out. Much like their older brother: MIC (Military Industrial Complex) and his current boondoogle: the “War on Terror”
I’ll find fault with Republicans and Democrats equally. But it sure seems like Republican influence/administrations sure does/do come up with very expensive ways of _not_ solving problems.

Declaration of independence – in part and edited.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all (PEOPLE) are (EVOLVED) equal, that they are endowed by their (EXISTENCE) with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS(as WE see it)!
CANNABIS IS NOT A “DRUG” it’s a PLANT AND SHOULD BE LEGAL!
This dam federal government does not respect OUR RIGHTS.
LEGALIZE,Control and regulate all “illegal” drugs and get the murderous drug lords, corrupt cops, religious control freaks, and fascist feds out of our private lives.
We must end the misery caused by this war on(some)drugs, get drug users out of jails and prisons and treat those who do abuse drugs.
Unjust drug laws prevents people from seeking help because of the real risk of arrest and imprisonment.
Mere drug use should NOT BE A DAM CRIME!
It’s non of anyone’s business what we do in private as long as we do not harm or endanger anyone else or their property.
No PLANT should be illegal to posses, use or grow.
This government needs to recognize that they do NOT OWN OUR BODIES.
