The Elusive Medical Home

The supposed savior of family medicine is the “medical home”.  Hold on, I can’t stop laughing. Okay, the medical…….wait, still laughing…..is a method to rename what we already do so a lucky few of us can get paid the same.  Alright, there is another definition somewhere but it is truly irrelevant.  Here is some news on the program.  Three-quarters of multispecialty groups would meet criteria of the National Committee of Quality Assurance (alphabet soup crew).  Only half of solo and partnership practices would meet those standards.  What will happen to them?  Yup, market forces will make them go away.  In an era of diminishing primary care doctors our brilliant leaders are devising plans that leads to this demise.
