Did you know that men on methadone treatment for drug addiction were more than twice as likely to be involved in traffic accidents?  To be fair, the study did not determine whether the people involved in the accidents were using alcohol or other drugs.   I am sure the methadone users would never “use” other drugs while driving (sarcasm intended).    Nevertheless, the authors stated that the number of accidents among methadone-treated patients is considered small but this drug does impair people’s functioning.   You think? This study was done  in Norway but it makes you wonder who would be responsible for an accident if a patient is on any pain killer?  Obviously, the doctor.   We need to be very careful with these medications.  Very careful.
