Fruit Roll-Ups
Maerenn Jepsen, a General Mills spokeswoman, said, “We stand behind our products, and we stand behind the accuracy of the labeling of those products”. And that is why the lawsuit continues in California. The person suing them believes the company is being untruthful when they state the Fruit Roll-Ups are healthful and natural, rather than a combination of artificial, non-fruit ingredients. Why you ask? Well, the Strawberry Fruit Roll-Up doesn’t even have strawberries in it but rather pears from concentrate, corn syrup, dried corn syrup, sugar and partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil. Sounds delicious but not really as accurate as the spokeswoman claims. How does she sleep at night?
This is one reason I ALWAYS READ THE LABEL!!
The INGREDIENTS are the most important part of that label, and their always in fine print in the hope you won’t read it.
There is too many “food” products out there that are not what they seem or what their claimed to be – “natural”.
This deception is all too common in “juice drinks”, and “fruit flavored” drinks.
That’s why I do most of my shopping on the periphery of a food shop where the real food is displayed instead of the isles where the junk lurks.
Now the label says “Sensation”, and it is made with actual fruit. Rather clever at that!
