The Oprah Foreskin Controversy
The Toronto Star has a story about a Vancouver activist group that is organizing protests against Oprah Winfrey because of the celebrity’s endorsement of an anti-aging cream called TNS Recovery Complex. It seems the product contains skin cells (fibroblasts) that are derived from the male foreskin. The bottom line is that the group is against circumcisions and this is their way of getting some attention. The interesting thing is that even though the anti-wrinkle cream is derived from foreskin fibroblasts, the cells are grown from a single foreskin obtained more than 20 years ago. So, in essence, these idiots don’t even know what they are protesting! If they really cared, I would think the bigger issue is that all those people who are using the cream are now getting cockeyed*.
