A few days after a Giant’s football player got injured in an accident, Adam Schefter put the above out on a tweet with the following:

ESPN obtained medical charts that show Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul had right index finger amputated today.

Yeah, HIPAA is alive and well.

Call in the hounds (lawyers).

    Agreed…………… Unless the patient in question asked for the copy and handed it to the representative from CNN. In that case, they get a free pass. Somehow, me thinks that’s not the case. Kurt

    This isn’t possible.

    HIPPA says so, and numerous hospital lawyers have confirmed it.
    There is no way that a random hospital employee would ever access a chart and record information to spread around later. They could never do that, because HIPPA says so.

    Must be a figment of our imagination. Some sort of mass hallucination.

    Nothing to see here. Foolish of you to think otherwise. Go back to your EMRs now.
