Ridiculous Study of the Week: Beer Better for Pain than Tylenol
I had to read this again because the stupidity is so outrageous that I thought it was a parody news site:
Researchers at Greenwich University in the U.K. say they discovered strong evidence that alcohol is an effective painkiller. They also concluded the more beer people drank, the less pain they felt.
Nope. It’s real. It is from the Journal of Pain and the study is titled “Analgesic Effects of Alcohol: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Controlled Experimental Studies in Healthy Participants” and Trevor Thompson et. al. conclude that “this meta-analysis provides robust evidence for the analgesic properties of alcohol, which could potentially contribute to alcohol misuse in pain patients.”

Yes, the study was ridiculous. Of course patients misuse it. Why are we researching this? I now need to drink to relieve my pain from writing about this.
ridiculous, yes, but just think of the fun those ‘normal subjects’ had in developing the data!!
Pot is EVEN BETTER and lasts a lot longer.
I would much prefer that over narcs. Safer, less side effects apart from risking Cheetos toxicity.
Ridiculous?
Yes.
But… somehow, it made me feel good inside to see them do this study.
More comparisons are needed.
Beer versus…
….Ibuprofen, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone.
Dang! I could make a whole JOURNAL OF BEER series!
That’s from the old Paul Simon song, “Fifty Ways to Love Your Liver.”
