All is Well as Hospital Executives are Doing Great!
This is for those who worry about the NUMBER of hospital administrators out there. Yes, they are growing at a ridiculous alarming rate but here is the exciting news. Adjusted for inflation, average compensation for CEOs at 22 major nonprofit health-care systems across the country increased from $1.6 million in 2005 to $3.1 million in 2015—a 93% increase. You read that right. Did your salary go up 93%? And remember, this was just major “nonprofit” hospitals.
The results show continued widening of the disparity in compensation between medical center CEOs and the doctors and nurses who provide patient care.
Chew on that my friends as you hear them all cry poor-mouth. It’s time for a revolution. It’s time for change.
Why am I not surprised? We are definitely living in the health care Twilight Zone. It is time for Medicare for All.
Why am I not surprised? It is time for Single Payer!
Nope. Wrong site. Free market with physician independence.
1st the end of the day they need us. Not the other way around. Physicians are so easily cowed.
Yes, the former CEO of my wife’s hospital got a $4 million parachute for totally f***ing up the hospital and dumping its reputation. If I did that to my practice I’d be in the poorhouse.
