Does DPC Need to Be Sexier?
Direct Primary Care is growing steadily but it sure seems that many people are missing the advantages we offer. Ryan Neuhofel, DO, and president of the Direct Primary Care Alliance, points out that all the big investors love this company HIMS. You can see the deal they offer above for an ED drug. What they are missing is that for DPC docs who dispense drugs, the same medicine is prescribed for a total of $3 total and the patient gets “comprehensive primary care in case he has more than a penis”.
Isn’t it time for rest of the world to jump on the DPC bandwagon?
(Disclaimer: DPC “not” owned by individual docs and not run like small practices usually fail and in no way do I want investors creating DPC franchises or Walmart DPCs).
DPC fights an uphill battle. Americans are trained from birth to trust brands, not people. We are trained to believe that only experts can determine quality.
Donald Trump polished his brand so heavily that it was sold to producers as an endorsement. There was Trump Vodka sold by a teetotaler. Harvard, Mayo and others are not just universities; they are brands.
DPC is for those who can think independently. These are a vanishing few.
DPC or Uberdoc?
The Big Players love DPC, if they can take hold of it and control it. You mentioned the faux DPC arrangements, but you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Heck. You can get the 20 mg tablets at most pharmacies for about a $1 per pill or less.
