Friday Funny: Harvard
Here is the link to the article. What’s the funny part? Harvard has no family medicine residency. Never did. Seems like they never will. I am so glad they are going to “reshape” primary care. How would they do that? It’s like a sculptor trying to make her creation out of air.
Thanks to Dr. Jeff Gold for the tip on these idiots.

I used to teach at a top medical school that also had no family medicine residency. (I’m not saying I was top, but saying the school was top – they screwed up and hired me)…….After pressure from the AAMC, as well as other quarters, they opened a program. Thing is, the primary care program is popular with the students themseves.
It was complete lack of respect for primary care that led them to not have a residency in it in the first place.
It sort of makes sense, presuming such a residency program would draw heavily from the host med school. What family doc could pay off a Harvard tuition, and live in such a high-cost area?
Tenured academics – what can’t they teach us?
Dear God, read this as the bureaucrats of the health industry want to re-shape primary care so they can squeeze more blood out of that turnip and keep the “clerks”, er, physicians moving along and productive for the corporations. You nailed it, Doug. Idiots.
On the mark except for the last word. They are predatory self-serving scum.
This reads like a parody of all the health care mishmosh over the last several decades. The tragedy is that these people actually believe it. It’s obvious none of the researchers mentioned have actually dirtied their hands actually providing primary care. They continue to foster the delusion that more data with better tweaking can save us in an industry that ultimately boils down to one patient and one doctor in an exam room.
