Addiction to Social Media
Do yourselves a favor and watch the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma. I have been aware of this issue for a long time. I highly recommend Cal Newport’s books Deep Work and Digital Minimalism to help you and your kids with this problem.
Remember, as the documentary says, if you are not paying for the product then you are the product.
Zubin also did a great job with this here.
In my practice, I was seeing so much more anxiety in kids in the last few years that it was mindboggling. Now I know why. Eighty percent of kids checking their phones in the middle of the night. They say we check our phones 150 times a day. Kids are averaging about 7 hours of screen time a day. This is messing with their brains. Literally. I mean dopamine and other neurotransmitters are being tweaked by these companies. We need to stop this madness.
Ok, rant over.

In my case amateur rocketry and Ham Radio. “Nothing like the smell of APCP/Ammonium Perchlorate Composite Propellant in the morning!” Or talking to a fellow in Tahiti from Central Illinois on the 12 meter band on a longwire in the trees for an antenna and 100 watts power output. (Which is relatively low considering.). Propagation gods were with me that day. 🙂
Doug, Has nothing to do with this topic, but thought you might find this interesting.
