Jeffrey Gold, MD: The Hero We Need
This article in Business Insider, while very disturbing, is also very prophetic. With the COVID 19 vaccines coming out it seems no one in Massachusetts seems to care about the independent doctors. They and their patients are being shut out. Unbelievable. That is where Dr. Jeffery Gold, MD comes in. He was interviewed for this piece and gives the quote of 2021:
“If this whole thing isn’t an example of why the government should get the F out of healthcare, I don’t know what is,” Gold said. “Healthcare starts in your community. A top-down approach isn’t going to fix this because they keep doing stuff like this that proves their dysfunction.”
Dropping the F bomb! Explaining how the government taking over healthcare would be the medical version of the United States Postal Service or Department of Motor Vehicles. What Dr. Gold is saying can be summed up in one meme:

“Because he’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.”
Somehow I am included on a vaccine provider list in NYC, (I live in PA, and am not a HCP – go figure, I worked in Big Pharma for 20 years.), anyway, I am sent updates about the status of vaccine distribution in NYC. I regularly receive updates indicating “many” open appointment slots for vaccine, so “real providers” must have vaccine doses going unused, no matter what they are saying on the ‘fake news’.
Same imbalance near Boston. Independent Docs have no access while hospital maintenance staff with no patient contact have been vaccinated. Finally got a vaccination date for tomorrow…3 days after being diagnosed with Covid 19!
It is extremely difficult to get the vaccine here in Florida if one does not work in a hospital-owned practice. My husband and I are both independent physicians. We called our local “big hospital ” to schedule our vaccines. The first question we were asked was “Are you an ______health employee?” When we responded no, we were immediately told that they were “out” of covid-19 vaccine. I called back the next day, answered “yes” and was offered multiple appointment times. The person on the other end of the line told me to make sure to bring proof of my employment status. So basically, they are sitting on doses of the vaccine for employees only. The other large hospital system has an appointment website that crashes regularly and phone lines that are not answered.

Both myself, and my wife who often works front desk, we both noticed the same thing two different weeks. I went to the local hospital vaccine clinic, right now just for medical personnel and medical office personnel. A dozen nurses, all sitting around. I was the only one there. Got my shot, waited fifteen minutes, and a few more trickled in as I left.
My wife noticed the exact same thing a week later.
They’re spending so much effort micromanaging who gets the vaccine first, no one ends up getting the vaccine.
Maybe this is a solution. I’ve seen two examples of this. One in California, and another more recently in my area. The COVID vaccine refrigerators break down. Once, it was a compressor failure, the other a power failure, storm, downed trees.
The temperature alarm goes off. Now they have a couple hours to give the vaccine or they have to throw it away. It lit a fire under their butts.
Forget the protocols over who deserves the vaccine more than others (governors love this, they’re drunk with power, all of them).
They went to the nursing homes, the prisons. Tribal clinic had a failure, they went to the casino. Basically found whoever they could find, who wanted the vaccine, and could be identified quickly. March through the nursing homes, prisons, casinos, just vaccinate everybody.
One report 800-some vaccines, the other 500-some vaccines, in a few hours.
I feel we need to sneak into the hospitals and unplug the refrigerators. That will get them to do their damn jobs.
The nail that sticks out gets hammered. No good deed goes unpunished.
I hope and pray Doc Gold does not get Hit at his medical practice,lawsuit thru LAWFARE, on line posts.

My wife falls in the 1b by age and medical issues. She is a school teacher. Her PCP announced relocation. I contacted the hospitals that I still work with (while in retirement) to get her one of the vaccine’s. One specifically said they only were offering vaccine to the people who were in their health insurance program. She is in Medicare and not Medicare Advantage and was denied care. At the same time, the other hospital gave me the vaccine (but not my wife) since I continued to help with the Covad rehab patients.
