Spare the AAP, Save the Child

If I take out a loan, rent an office, hire a receptionist, set up a website and a Twitter account, and start issuing opinions, would that give me some popularly recognized degree of credibility?  How about if I found the “American Association of Free Thinking, Pissed Off Physicians Who Are Tired of Being Lied To, LLC”?  Would you buy my newsletter, take my profitable (for me) CME, and pony up for my conferences?  Would the media make a beeline to get my latest musings on whatever topic-of-the day, and repeat them glowingly as a justification for public policy with real-world consequences?

It sure as hell worked for the American Academy of Pediatrics.  This is the same idiot-factory whose Committee on Bioethics wrote, in response to growing awareness of insane Islamic ritual female genital mutilation:  “It might be more effective if federal and state laws enabled pediatricians to reach out to families by offering a ritual [clitoral] nick as a possible compromise to avoid greater harm.”  The AAP quickly released a disclaiming statement, including:  “The ethics committee will do a rewrite, which will reassert the AAP opposition to all forms of female genital cutting,” stated their rep, and that “the original comment about performing a medically unnecessary nick represented an academic discussion of options to stop this ‘awful’ practice.’”  That an organization would entertain even an “academic discussion of options” should have destroyed this culturally malleable organization forever.  If you think I’m painting with a broad brush, you’re damn right I am.

The AAP is the medical equivalent of the American Federation of Teachers, their primary mission being risk aversion and power preservation, while using children as human shields.  COVID-19 has, as with so many other corrupt groups, exposed them.

The AAP has issued a proclamation “that universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status, should be implemented for the 2021-22 school year.”  These circular idiots base their holy decree on the latest guidance from the clearly corrupt, clearly incompetent, clearly political CDC, and repeat this justification throughout their statement.  If you, dear reader, can find any actual cited research attached to the AAP statement, please let us know, because I couldn’t find any on their web site.  The practiced skepticisms that led me to found the AAFTPOPWATBLT make me suspect that the CDC ass-coverers used the preliminary guidance from the AAP to support their latest “guidance,” then in turn used by the AAP to show compliance with the CDC.  Nah, I didn’t look it up, but it fits the pattern.

It is IDIOTIC to require children to wear these ineffective masks, and utterly DISHONEST to try to bamboozle parents, physicians, and weak-minded schoolboard members (redundant, I know) that this will do any good in slowing an aerosolized virus.

A study in “the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics section, found that the wearing of nose and mouth coverings by children leads to an increase in carbon dioxide levels in both inhaled and exhaled air while wearing a mask. The authors, a group of physicians from Germany, Poland and Austria, concluded that the findings ‘suggest that children should not be forced to wear face masks.’”  With an N=45, ages 6-17, I’m not sure that is convincing either.

Another German study of 25,000 students found masks led to “increased headaches (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), drowsiness or fatigue (37%), malaise (42%), and nearly a third of children experience more sleep issues than they had previously and a quarter of children developed new fears.”  But the editor leads in with “This study is based on a survey regarding the adverse effects of mask wearing in children. Due to multiple limitations, this study cannot demonstrate a causal relationship between mask wearing and the reported adverse effects in children (their emphasis). Most of the respondents were parents, and the survey was distributed preferentially in social media forums that, according to the authors, “criticize the government’s corona protection measures in principle”.  So, what is that really worth?

Does anyone want kids to get COVID-19?  No, no one except those whose funding and favorable media will be bolstered if they do.  Is COVID-19 a serious threat to the overwhelming majority of children?  No.  Are children harmed by masks?  Maybe the question should be, rather, ARE THEY HELPED?  If there is any data that they indeed benefit by mass masking, then why doesn’t the AAP present it?  Instead, they simply serve as a parrot on the shoulder of the CDC, which also does not present any credible data proving the benefits of herd face diapering.  The case has not been made for universal pediatric COVID vaccination, yet the CDC is pushing for it full-steam, which means the AAP will fall right in line with that “guidance” if they haven’t already.  As with the shot, those deemed to be the authoritative experts are handing down mask mandates based on nothing but mob instinct, just in the nick of time for school to start.  If some smart researcher can figure out how to surgically mask fetuses in utero, we’ll have all the bases covered, and the AAP will recommend it.
