A recent study in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism “for the first time showed a strict association of Vitamin D levels with blood sugar and BMI in COVID-19 patients.” In fact, “vitamin D deficiency might be a novel mechanism involved in the detrimental effect of adiposity and hyperglycemia on disease severity.” There have been previous studies on this as well So what do we know? It looks like overweight, insulin-resistant people who never get in the sun are being affected much more. Can you think of anyone in this country like that? Umm, how about 2/3 of our population? Now that we know that I am sure you are seeing signs everywhere about mandating:
- sunshine for 20 minutes as a day (or taking D if impossible)
- keeping carbs under 50 – 100 grams a day
- regular exercise
You are seeing those mandates right? LOL.
