Bring In The Clowns

In another media story that means very little, clowns are being brought into a Canadian hospital to help get women pregnant.  Sound ridiculous?  Two professionally trained, university accredited medical clowns from Israel are presented a conference at the McGill University Health Centre’s reproductive centre about the link between clowning and fertility rates.  In a study of 219 women undergoing in vitro fertilization treatments, 36 per cent of the women entertained for 15 minutes by a medical clown following the implantation of the embryo became pregnant, compared with 20 per cent for those who were not.   As an interesting side note, those 16% who became pregnant had babies born with red balls on their noses.
