Fake Pig Ears
China, with its history of poor oversight, has once again been found to have produced something fraudulent. I blogged so many stories over the years about this trend it is getting boring already. Whether it is fake ED meds, cadmium in toys, or flawed medical trials, they seem to keep outdoing themselves. The newest item is fake pig ears being sold in their markets. Food safety officials tested the “ears” and found they had been made from gelatin and the chemical sodium oleate, commonly used in the production of soap. Come to think of it, this may be the first time that their fake product is healthier than the real one.
? FAKE PIG EARS ? Now I heard everything! What? Say WHAT? Can’t seem to HEAR you very well! something seems to be wrong with my rather porcine assistant’s hearing? PIG EARS have high glucosamine and chondroitin content, normal components of cartilage…My question for the FDA: are Chinese scam artists using FAKE PIG EARS to make FAKE GLUCOSAMINE-CHONDROITIN SUPPLEMENTS for the U.S. market which includes ever-increasing numbers of Baby Boomers with osteoarthritis?
Dear D.F. (the “Dictator” of Medicine),
Thank for your “expose” on sow’s ears. That said, any ideas where I could now get some knock-off silk purses? Wait till they try to make footballs!
ny more products are we going to get from China. Their chicken tenders have already killed or sickened thousands of dogs throughout our country. Now Publix is also selling Del Monte jarred fruit from
China and frozen, peas and other vegetables..where is the FDAor the Department of Agriculture?

Every article I have ever published has resulted in 4-5 email contacts from China, desiring to discuss with me the “outstanding opprotunity to publish international research as a co-investigator of an exceptional ongoing clinical trial.”
They will do anything to legitimize their research in the name of profit.
