I’m reminded of the commercial by United Health Care with the new parents calling their doctor in the middle of the night. The doctor is fully dressed wearing his white coat. He is sitting in his office (in the middle of the night) at his desk with all his diplomas etc on the wall behind him. This is so inaccurate and misleading. Unfortunately, patients often think that this is how things work. I’ve had them call me in the middle of the night and when I ask them to hold for a second so I can leave the room and not wake my husband, they are surprised that I am not sitting at the hospital in some office just waiting for them to call.
