Harvard Medical Students

Here is a very media friendly article in the American Medical News about a new program at Harvard Medical School.  The Harvard Medical School Cambridge Integrated Clerkship at Cambridge (Mass.) Health Alliance is called a longitudinal integrated clerkship because it is “a training model that veers away from traditional clinical block rotations. Instead of studying different disciplines in chunks, students work with physicians in core specialties continuously throughout the year while simultaneously following a panel of patients representing a wide spectrum of medical conditions.”  Wow.   They are teaching how important continuity of care is and what it is like to be a family doctor.  Cool.  This should really turn their medical students on to their family medicine residency, right?  Oh, wait a minute.  That’s right.  They don’t have one.  I hate when double-standards get in the way of a good story, don’t you?
