Has Your Healthcare Been Breached?
Did you know that:
More than 883,000 people had data exposed in healthcare breaches reported to the federal government last month.
That’s down from a whopping 2 million people whose data was compromised in healthcare breaches reported in February, according to HHS’ Office for Civil Rights, the agency that maintains the government’s database of healthcare breaches
In March, providers, health plans and their business associates reported 31 breaches to the agency. These breaches compromised data from 883,759 people in total, up 155% from the 346,386 people affected by healthcare breaches reported in March 2018.
Doesn’t that seem like a lotof freaking people are being exposed? But remember, you can be penalized for any minor HIPAA violation. Seems fair, right?

HIPAA- Hugely Idiotic Pain in the Ass-Always
A massive system near me Scott and White refuses to send me notes from consults I called without a release of information. But I called the fracking consult! They claim HIPPA but I call bullshit because every other consult sends me the notes. So HIPPA which is a pain in the ass, does not protect information and is used by last systems to further screw up continuity of care?
Its HIPAA, not HIPPA ma’am.
