It’s the Compliance Issue, Stupid

I found this in a WSJ article.  The article is here but this information should put to bed the argument that doctors be paid depending on how well their patients labs, blood pressure or weight is.  Granted, we can always build better systems to improve complaince but in the end it is a personal choice by the patient.

Medication Nation

  • 32 million Americans take three or more medications daily.
  • Nearly 75% of Americans report not always taking their medications as prescribed.
  • Almost 30% of Americans stop taking their medicine before it runs out.
  • Only about half of patients with high blood pressure take their prescribed doses of drugs
