Remember to shred ANY piece of information from a patient or you will be personally fined! On the other hand, there is this:

Quest Diagnostics Says Up to 12 Million Patients May Have Had Financial, Medical, Personal Information Breached

So, to reiterate, doctors are screwed for any HIPAA mistake they make but for these breaches:

“Quest Diagnostics takes this matter very seriously and is committed to the privacy and security of patients’ personal, medical and financial information,” the company added in the filing. 

So…..nothing.

  • Nothing is ever private
  • If you are in trouble just say you are “taking any HIPAA mistake very serious and are committed to privacy and security of patients’ personal, medical and financial information and then you are forgiven”
