Ridiculous Study of the Week: Vaccine Requirements
You are not going to believe this but if you require kids to get vaccines then more of them will get vaccinated. Here is a mind-blowing study:
The percentage of kindergartners without up-to-date vaccinations dropped in California following the tightening of requirements in the state, according to a new study, whose findings suggest stricter vaccine mandates and education can raise immunization rates.
California strengthened immunization requirements in the state starting in 2014, after the rate of kindergartners who weren’t fully vaccinated rose to 9.84% the year before. By 2017, the rate dropped to 4.87%, according to the study published online in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Tuesday.
This also just in:
- Forcing people to get health insurance, or be fined, makes them get health insurance
- Making it law that you have to get auto insurance makes people get auto insurance
- Putting people in jail for not paying their taxes also makes them pay their taxes
The above were not actually studied but I thought I would save the taxpayers money by just giving them the results.
Any questions?
Wow, threatening to use force gets people to do things they don’t want to do! Who’d have think it?
Wow, Doug, you’re like, a genius or something. I would like to add another motivator:
Free stuff.
I used to live in Houston. On one of my visits to the zoo, it was vaccine day. If you brought your vaccine card and you were up to date, your kids got in for free. If you were behind, there were nurses there who would immunize you for free so that your kids could get into the zoo for free.
I haven’t reviewed any studies on this but the really long line helped me arrive at an interesting conclusion…
