Ridiculous Study of the Week: Weekends
It turns out that when people have more time off (i.e. weekends) they will use it for exercise and alcohol:
“Monday through Wednesday, people batten down the hatches and they cut back on alcohol consumption,” lead author David Conroy said in a news release.
“But once that ‘social weekend’ kicks off on Thursdays, physical activity increases and so does alcohol consumption,” Conroy said.
And there you have it, earth-shattering research. Next on the docket for these authors:
- People who live in Mexico tend to speak more Spanish
- Dogs can’t actually talk
We were taught in residency that screening questions for alcoholism included asking whether the patient selected certain periods of the day to NOT drink. Of course we all laughed “Yeah, at work!”
