“Rock Not a Doc” Now Not Free
The story continues for our noctor friend. Jeffery Young is accused of exchanging opioids and fentanyl patches for sex between 2014 and 2017 and faces multiple federal drug trafficking charges. Over an estimated three-year period, Young allegedly prescribed 1.4 million pills and 1,500 fentanyl patches without medical need. Yet the Nursing settled charges against him which allowed him to continue his practice with restrictions on what medications he can prescribe and oversight of his prescribing practices. How disgusting is that?
Well, there is an update. The Attorney for the federal government Jason Knutson said Young was “hiding behind the medical board” and that his true pattern of practice was far more “insidious” than what the board’s investigation revealed. The good news is that Federal Judge John Daniel Breen agreed ruled Monday that Jeffrey Young presents a danger to the community that no release conditions could address. He is finally in jail.
Here is the problem I have with this story. He wasn’t hiding behind the medical board because he is NOT A DOCTOR! He is an NP and the nursing board needs to be the next thing investigated!

Kudos to the Tennessee Department of Health and Board of Nursing for sitting by and doing nothing for a period of years. Kudos to them for finally acting and allowing him to continue writing Schedule IIIs and IVs.
Cheers to his physicians who were responsible for this mid-level’s oversight and not reporting anything.
This is a complete and total failure of the system and public trust.
Those who cannot behave as adults following principles are doomed to be led as children entrapped in rules and regulations.
Somehow, the lust to return to the simplicity of childhood has infected our civilization like the measles; and we have confused the immunization with the disease.
On the degeneration of democracy into barbarism:

No longer the need to rely on our own sense of propriety, We The Herd scorn the ugly and unpopular, and relish the slick entertainers like Rock Doc. No more of the arrogance of relying on our own opinion and judgment as to the desirability or loathsomeness of anything; everything goes! at least if it’s cool.
The Rock Doc personifies everything repulsive and selfish in the reckless exploitation of the trust given to health care givers. Somehow, now, if he gives drugs to your teenage daughter as an enticement to intimacy, we can admire his slyness without stringing the man up from the nearest tree.
Insanity, in one legal definition, is the inability to tell right from wrong. The concept of elective insanity had not yet entered into legal theory until now.
Nothing resembling a profession of medicine – whether performed by MD, NP, PA, NA, or EMT – can survive this sort of moral decay.
