I. love. this. The best part is if you show it to a hospital administrator- they either don’t get it or think it is serious.
Years ago I complained to my hospital’s compliance/QI officer that our quality indicators had nothing to do with delivering quality health care. “But it’s not quality that we’re interested in, it’s the appearance of quality,” she beamed.
Precious. Will post in the Dr’s lounge….
Once again I see depressing similarities between medicine and education. Instead of “quality”, schools are beaten over the head with demands they become “world class”. What the HELL does that mean?
Last time I looked, the world included Bangladesh and Sweden. It’s another garbage word that politicians and business moguls use to obfuscate their own role in creating the social/economic conditions that make educating kids difficult. Sounds like nondocs use “quality” the same way.
And don’t get me started on the other currently fashionable word “passion”. Folks used to have commitment, enthsiasm, dedication, etc. Now they have “passion”. I don’t think it’s a quality term.
