New AAFP President Coming In
Yes, it is that time of year again. The AAFP has a new incoming president and his name is John Meigs, M.D. You can read most of what he says here but basically over the next year the will supposedly tackle the tough issues facing family physicians, including pay, administrative burdens and opioid abuse.
My thoughts? He would have done better reciting lyrics from the song Once In A Lifetime by the Talking Heads:
And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house? (substitute: What is this terrible job?)
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go to? (substitute: Why did I sign that contract?)
And you may ask yourself
Am I right?…Am I wrong?
And you may say to yourself yourself
My God!…What have I done?!
Then the audience could have come in with the chorus:
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…
Wouldn’t that have been more fun? And true?
Well . . . I do have to say his acceptance speech seems a little more in touch with reality than what we got from wild, wacky, wonderful Wanda “This is our time!” Filer. Jeez, what an embarrassment that woman was.
“”I never got a gold card,” said Meigs. “When I inquired as to why, I was told I had not ordered enough tests for them to have enough data to determine if I was an overutilizer,” he quipped to resounding laughter and applause.”
🙂
You start a conversation you can’t
even finish it
You’re talking a lot, but you’re not
saying anything
When I have nothing to say, my lips
are sealed
Say something once, why say it
again?

Remember the mountain man beard on the previous prez? Check out the sideburns this dude sports. There is some odd associatin between the AAFP and atypical facial hair, not sure what, but it’s gotta mean something.
