Who Needs a Billion Dollars?
So there is this:
The IRS overpaid nearly $4 billion to Obamacare customers through tax credits last year, and because of the way the law is written it can’t even try to collect on a quarter of that, the Treasury Department’s inspector general reported this week.
All told, the Treasury Department paid out roughly $27 billion in Obamacare subsidies in the 2018 tax-filing season, with overages accounting for $3.7 billion of that. Only $2.7 billion was recaptured.
What’s a billion dollars amongst friends?
Also, remember that Obamacare only looked at income. So if you were independently wealthy and didn’t work then Obamacare would you give you free care because you had no income. Isn’t that great. Wait, you say, it’s too hard for the government to figure out how much OVERALL money someone has. Really? Every college does it when looking at parent’s income.
Unbelievable.

Until the system is geared towards incentives to patients for good health behaviors, not a
blankety-blank thing is going to change in this country. I no longer recommend FP to any med student and may anyone who does be condemned to Hades. DPC? Fine if one is in the appropriate geographic area with the right payer mix. Try and do it in an area where the people are too used to feeding off the government teat and one will go bankrupt. Don’t accept Medicare? Fine. When they want the danged electric wheelchair, even if it’s needed, you can’t fill out the forms!
People find that out and they’ll go elsewhere and you’ll go bankrupt. DPC? One must be very, very careful where they setup.
Our tax dollars at work…
