Appreciated.
TV ads are crazy. Since when do patients have the education to ask their medication?
As an ophthalmologist, I get repeated requests for the dry eye drops.
Nobody seems to realize that the general price is 3-5 HUNDRED DOLLARS per month for an eyedrop that burns and takes at least a month to work. I do not mind writing this prescription for most anyone because contraindications and side effects are minimal, but I do mind when patients pester me for free samples- WE HAVE NONE- or to write letters to their insurance companies so that they can attempt to get coverage.
I understand that BIG PHARMA is producing miracle drugs, but guess who has to pay for the advertising. I guess I am happier thinking about the old days when I had reps with free gifts trying to teach me about new medicines. That is basically illegal now since the GOVMT decided I was being bribed. But what about all those lobbyists in DC???
Nope, just beat up the old physicians.
