“Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline…

Nice uplifting advice. i just heard something about Thoreau and Emerson on NPR while driving this weekend.
On the other hand, please google Thoreau net worth…..under it in Chrome/google is a question “How did Thoreau make money?”
Read the answer.
In this day and age, with the target audience you have presented this to, I do not know what to think.
But that is me and please do not accept this as criticism.
I over-analyze everything.
Also I am in a bad mood because my office staff are basically a bunch of slackers who require a babysitter and I will be retiring shortly.
My real problem, and perhaps you can help me, is that I am afraid to retire. I see patients who retire and they are dead in a year. I am so experienced at what I do, but it has become a real chore to run a solo practice. There is only one other solo INDEPENDENT doc in town. My patients love me and when I tell them they are fine and only need to return in a year, they demand i promise not to retire LIKE ALL THEIR OTHER DOCTORS ARE DOING.
Maybe I have the COVID blues- perhaps I should have applied for that last stimulus money that was deadlined out 10/31/21. My fault, but I was overwhelmed by the amount of work needed to justify the first stimulus payment that was automatically deposited in my bank account 4/2020. I basically needed an accountant to respond to the paperwork that was later required to justify keeping this money. I was required to provide a quarterly breakdown for the six quarters starting at the beginning of 2020 of where my income comes from- Medicare, medicaid, commercial insurance, cash…..CRAZY! I might not have accepted the money in the first place.
Sorry for the rant but it is therapeutic for me…..better than a straitjacket (did i spell that right?)
