Amazing. I read the article and comments on a break, only to return to my next patient asserting that his “testosterone doctor” found him to be anemic and in need of supplements. Hadn’t heard of this doctor before. I looked at his RBC and Hb from four days ago, and reassured him it was normal. He’s going with the “test-o-doc” and getting the supplements. After all, they specialize in this stuff.

These hormone pellets are no joke. We have some of these jokers in our area and they charge huge amounts of cash and inject men with testosterone pellets which last for about a year. The problem is it causes super high testosterone levels which cannot be reversed. This causes super high levels of Estradiol which these “doctors” then treat with Anastrozole (you know… the drug given for breast cancer). The guys feel all pumped up from the testosterone and then they start to feel kind of bad. They wander into our office asking for help and all I can do is express horror at the treatment. There’s nothing I can do! They get mad at me and so I send them for a third opinion with an Endocrinologist, who echoes my horrified response. There’s nothing anyone can do until this crap fades away over the course of a year or more. This is quackery!

I’m a woman considering hormone pellets, but lucky for me I’m an RN and see through her deceptive “Doctor” title.
Disgusting! When is this ever going to end – tired of these “Doctor Nurse” Decepticons!

To me, it seems deceptive for her to call herself a “Doctor” because she doesn’t make the distinction between being a real Medical Doctor and being a nurse with a doctorate degree. It’s as confusing as calling a religious leader a “Doctor” because they have a degree from seminary. Seems to be a plethora of deception going on in medical titles these days. But then, that seems to be how the game is played. Especially when you are charged for an MD when you are only seen by a DNP.
I’ve never heard of giving patients “pellets” before. Does she insert a “pellet” gun into your rectum to inject the pellets. Or do you burn them in your pellet stove and inhale the fumes to gain relief ? Quack, Quack, Quack !!

In Europe, it’s considered poor form for anyone but an MD trained in medical practice. Nobel Prize-winning scientists address each other as Mr or Professor. Like professor Einstein and Mr. Bohr.

Nope, they’re injected under the skin. Very popular in our area. Endocrine colleague told me there were several cases of masculinized fetuses in women who thought they were menopausal…..except they weren’t.
