Our Greatest Duty

“There are no evil thoughts, Mr. Rearden,” Francisco said softly, “except one: the refusal to think.”

― Ayn Rand

If you are already eye-rolling at a lead from this notorious thinker, then good, you need this and more of it.  If you are a medical student having your head stuffed as full of politically-motivated garbage as is my frozen chicken with crawfish etouffee (man, am I looking forward to Fat Tuesday), then stop and question them!  If they are willing to lie about non-science issues, why wouldn’t they lie about the scientific ones?  If you are a beat-down, corporate-owned doc just trying to pay your mortgage and get the kids through post-mask therapy…you have my honest sympathies, but you too cannot escape this inexorable equation:  we each have to think, and cannot abdicate this responsibility without awful, unforeseen consequences.

Recently I dumped an online CME service I’ve used for years because they had a module where credits were earned by identifying vaccine “misinformation,” because of course, I can’t think for myself.  Recently I got an email from a happy-cheerleader-puppies+sunshine competitor of this site, wherein a mewling, whining ER doc sniffed about the “death of empathy” as she started bashing those in the waiting room who had not been vaccinated.  I am not anti-vax, have written so repeatedly, so don’t bother accusing me of the same.  But like the besieged medical students and whipworn practicing docs, I was trained to believe the pronouncements from the CDC, the NIH, and the IOM (the latter that cranked out that deceitful, corrupt 1999 report that resulted in the destructive extortions of the gangster MOC industry).  It is not breaking news that the CDC, NIH, and Fauci’s NIAID are all on the take for mega-millions from Big Pharma, and so their declarations should always be viewed with extreme skepticism, never more so than their rise to feudal authority during the virus panic.

Do you recommend to your patients that they take the COVID-19 vaccine?  If so, it should be based on YOUR best judgment, with the honest calculation that the risk-benefit ratio favors vaccination for that individual.  Do you recommend that your patients do not take the jab?  Same as above.

Recently the news has exploded from the New York Times that, “The CDC has admitted it is withholding large portions of COVID-19 data — including on vaccine boosters — from the public because it fears the information could be misinterpreted.”  Because the lay public is too ignorant to think for themselves.  Because physicians need to get their marching orders, and not worry about the details (the link is not to the NYT, behind a paywall, so help yourself).

“Among the data that has been collected but not made public is hospitalizations broken down by age, race and vaccination status over the last year and information on the effectiveness of booster shots

When the CDC released data on the effectiveness of boosters for adults younger than 65 two weeks ago, it did not include full numbers on those between 18 and 49 (my emphasis).

That data showed the booster shots were least likely to benefit younger adults because two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson, already left them well protected.”  Wouldn’t young hipsters getting ready to march in a Vegans for Forced Vaccination rally want to know this?  Wouldn’t parents want to know this?  Wouldn’t you?  By any available numbers, the odds of a child dying in a car accident en route to the pediatrician’s office for a vaccination against COVID are greater than actually dying of the virus.  Why are the public health forces and Big Pharma pushing for mass pediatric COVID-19 vaccination, and where are the physicians pushing back against this crime?

I have heard and read far too many hospital administrators and – worse – doctors merely parroting the orders from the CDC without thought, qualification, or doubt.  I know of one case where a psychiatrist told his patient, who already had COVID, that it was a “crime against humanity” not to accept the vaccine.  This is not medicine, but frightening herd ideology of the kind that leads to and rationalizes any assault on the individual.  Last fall the CDC weighed in on making RENTAL HOUSING POLICY.  If they can do that, force hospital administrators to enforce pointless mask-wearing, and force benumbed doctors to unthinkingly administer vaccines and boosters to the horizon against a nearly harmless variant…what CAN’T they do?

If you choose not to recommend COVID vaccination to a patient, you must do so based on your best judgment, with their best interests in mind.  If you recommend vaccination based only on guidelines from a financially captured, politically motivated CDC, and boosters to the horizon, well…

If we abdicate our obligation to THINK, then we are merely camp guards waiting to load the next boxcar.
