The problem is: This is TRUE!! IT IS EVERYWHERE. Go ahead and blame healthcare administrators, but more of it is BEING DONE BY OTHER DOCTORS!!!! IT IS HAPPENING AT A TERRIFYING PACE!! IT IS THE NEW NORMAL!! IF YOU CRITICIZE IT, YOU ARE TREATED AS IF YOU ARE A TOTALLY EVIL DOCTOR AND EVERYONE NODS THEIR HEADS, AGREEING THAT YOU ARE OUT OF LINE!!! IF YOU FIND SERIOUS ERRORS IN THE CARE OF NP’S AND PA’S, you are treated with a shrug of the shoulders by their employers. Five years ago, no PA’s or NP’s worked in the hospital except to help with postop checks. Now, THEY ARE THE SPECIALISTS!!! The so-called supervising doctor just sticks a head in the door and mutters “whatever…” THIS IS A CATASTROPHE!!!!
I know us board certified plastic surgeons dont get or want much sympathy. However, most of us had 7 years of surgical residency, and many of us have had difficult and frequent call schedules, and lots of complicated cases. We were the first to complain about untrained people doing medical, but the medical community looked the other way, as they said its just Botox and fillers, and then lasers, and you dont want competition. But now it has spread to everyone.
I do sympathize with you but BEFORE there were untrained people doing BOTOX there was the NP Trojan Horse saying they are not only equal to family docs but better.
Wonderful. I would like to be a human Stinger missile, please. Those are cool. I’ll be Dr. Stinger and shoot down enemy warplanes with my x-ray eyes, while practicing medicine. I know that it’s possible, I have the comic book.
