Nurse Calls Police Because a 10-year-old Got a Tattoo
This is from the NY Times:
Last month, a 10-year-old boy walked into the nurse’s office of his elementary school in Highland, N.Y., and asked for some Vaseline. He wanted to rub it onto his new tattoo — a crude rendering of his name in large block letters on the inside of his forearm.
The nurse called the police.
The boy had gotten the tattoo with his mother’s permission from a neighbor, according to local authorities. While some states have no minimum age for receiving a tattoo if a parent allows it, New York State forbids anyone younger than 18 from getting tattooed with or without parental consent. Last month, both the tattoo artist, Austin Smith, 20, who was unlicensed, and the boy’s mother, Crystal Thomas, 33, were arrested, as pictures of the boy’s arm stirred outrage across local and international news sites and social media.
Interesting. Let’s hear from a brilliant doctor:
It is a situation that Dr. Cora Bruener, a pediatrician and professor at the University of Washington Medical Center’s Seattle Children’s Hospital, and author of guidance on tattoos for pediatricians, issued by the American Academy of Pediatric Medicine, finds troubling.
“It is a permanent mark or a symbol you are putting on your body, and I don’t think kids under 18 have that kind of agency to make a decision,” Dr. Bruener said. “We need to look at these laws again.”
Here is my question. If a child under 18 doesn’t have the agency to make a decision for a tattoo why can he or she make a decision for either medications or surgery to change his or her gender?
Answer that, AAP and Dr. Bruener. I’m waiting.

“One of the biggest takeaways for me from doing this podcast was really the discovery that none of the experts that we talked to think that this abuse [Munchausen by proxy] is rare. They think it’s very rare that it’s caught,”

One has to wonder how much pediatric transgenderism, the four-year-old boy saying he’s a girl, that sort of thing…….one has to wonder if this a new manifestation of Munchausen by proxy.
Good question.
Everything is a business model.Someone makes money for Gender blockers, gender surgery.Look at Vanderbilt, recently “shut down” their peds gender unit cause they got bad publicity from it..Podcast touting the money from gender transition… Permanent damage from medications and piss poor surgery.Cannot make an Efgective Penis, or a Clitoris,a vagina, uterus.. Cannot do Genetic manipulation to change a girl to a boy or boy to girl..
These things are a violation of Reason, Science,EthiCS and MORALS.IT IS CHILD ABUSE..
THOSE DOING THE PUBERITY BLOCKERS AMD OR SURGERY SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM COUNSELING, PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE AND JAILED.. THEY ARE PREVERTED / SICK..
THAT IS MY PERSONAL OPINION.
I have no hope for the future, but the ongoing collapse always has a funny side. Hilarious that the dumbest are always the most fertile. Turns out the movie “Idiocracy”’was a documentary.
To clarify even more, if someone under the age of 18 doesn’t have the maturity to make decisions as to having sex with someone 18 or older, how can they have the maturity / agency to make decisions regarding medications and surgery to change their gender ? I don’t see how you can allow one and not the other. Both should be illegal in my opinion.
Funny thing, Doug, tattooing was actually completely illegal in NYC until 1997.
100% against the law. No tattoo parlors, no signs, no advertising. If you wanted to get a tattoo in NYC, you had to find someone by word of mouth and they’d do it in their apartment.
This prohibition “bled off” into the surrounding areas, so that, in New York State in general, it was not easy to get a tattoo, and if you did, it was a fairly big step.
Of course, it’s still completely illegal for kids.
All of which is to say that those of us “of a certain age,” who grew up in this environment, would be inclined to notice, and respond badly to, a tattoo on a child.
Add to this the fact that a nurse is a mandated reporter, who could not only lose her license, but also go to jail, if she fails to report something fishy, and there was no doubt whatsoever that this kid would be ratted out pronto.
As far as the “trans” thing goes, yeah, that’s funny, isn’t it?
You can’t choose to make a permanent mark on your body, but you can choose to have parts removed or permanently inflated (not just for “transexuals,” by the way, but there are straight girls who get boob jobs at 16), or accept treatments that are likely to make you unable to have children, or even have an orgasm (at an age when you probably haven’t had one yet).
Yeah, that’s what the cool kids call “fucked up.”
By the way, did you see the NYT article a few days ago where they acknowledged questions about early hormone treatments and started to reel back some of their most ridiculous rhetoric?
