The Problem with the DEI Obsession in Medical Schools

Here is a great article by Stanley Goldfarb that you should read. Things are getting crazy and it doesn’t have to be that way. We ALL want every person of every color, religion, etc to have EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to be a doctor. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY is not EQUITY, however. Equity is a forced result and causes a domino effect of changes that dilutes and hurts the profession and patient care. Forcing diversity and inclusion has the same poor result. On one hand we can’t complain about those who are LELTs (less education, less training) like NPs and PAs and then admit those who are unqualified into our medical schools. That’s hypocritical. Instead, we need to find a way so that everyone who wants to be a doctor has the opportunity to get qualified and get good grades, get good MCAT scores, etc.

So, to summarize what I just said, we all want the same result. No one is looking around and saying, “Damn, I wish there was less _________ here.” In fact, it is the opposite. That being said, forcing EQUITY will have consequences and Goldfarb shows you them. Please read it.
