See above for the differences between an NP and a family physician. There is a role for midlevels but that role is NOT to replace a doctor. A real doctor. Don’t let them fool you.
Creating an effective and efficient healthcare system is not easy. What is interesting to me…

Notice should be paid as well as to what those years are comprised of. For the last three years they have been mostly online for many nurse practitioner programs. The biggest program in my area has all of them on YouTube. The practitioners coming out of that program have no idea if their professors have legs. Interestingly united healthcare is the first insurance to start noticing. They are insisting on credentialing mid-level providers separately and are going to start paying less for those visits. This will have repercussions.

Doug, it frustrates the HELL outta me that you even have to post info describing the difference between Physicians and NURSES!!!!!! Honest to God, if anyone ever said to me “But there’s no difference…”, I’d punch them in the face. Hard.
Corporate America is just flushing 150 years of norms down the toilet. I’m ready for war.

I love this graphic and the advocacy for education! I understand NP school is usually 2 years at minimum, but otherwise this seems like a great comparison.

Also, would love to share this, but the graphic is a little blurry. :/
