Physician Benefits From Government

In the past, writers of this blog, including myself, have opined that physicians, although very much needed by everyone in America, we are not appreciated or supported. Having a military flyover or everyone in the Starbucks clapping when someone in scrubs walked in during the pandemic was just a blip: we do not feel the day-to-day support and appreciation that other fields have, specifically teaching. Teacher retirements are aggressively wonderful and we should be allowed as physicians to be able to similarly pay into a national retirement program. In the same way, our employees and ourselves should be able to buy into a national health plan that is at least as good as employees on the federal level. We are willing to pay for it, we would just like that physical and financial show that America is in appreciation of us.

I don’t think those things are ever going to happen. In lieu of that, I have thought of a benefit that the government could offer almost with a click of a button.

I think it would be easy enough to verify our identity so therefore they should make every physician’s cell phone absolutely banned from all telemarketers. That way we would pick up on phone calls that we did not recognize because it might very well be a transfer of a patient or other people or groups calling us that weren’t in our contact list. This would be easy to do and very helpful, as I get a ton of telemarketing calls every day and they annoy me.
