The Surgeon Admiral Tacks
To not put too fine a point on things, I think that Surgeon Admiral Murthy is a disgusting liar, and part of a soulless machine bent on crushing the individual, all for the greater good.
I’ve bashed the Surgeon Admiral before here, and here. He is a political hack, a medical collectivist furthering the aims of some very bad actors while burnishing his costume gold braid. Why do I say such mean things? Because today, while being interviewed regarding COVID-19, this wretch said:
“But what’s also really important … is that we have the ability to have respectful, thoughtful dialogue with one another. I worry about the temperature rise in our dialogue about people being shut out in terms of their points of view being heard. We need to be able to hear all voices, we need to be able to respect one another.”
But, but … on 7/15/2021 he issued a governmental advisory, in which he said: “Health misinformation is an urgent threat to public health. It can cause confusion, sow mistrust, and undermine public health efforts, including our ongoing work to end the COVID-19 pandemic. As Surgeon General, my job is to help people stay safe and healthy, and without limiting the spread of health misinformation, American lives are at risk. From the tech and social media companies who must do more to address the spread on their platforms, to all of us identifying and avoiding sharing misinformation, tackling this challenge will require an all-of-society approach, but it is critical for the long-term health of our nation.” His advisory laid out “how the nation can confront health misinformation by helping individuals, families, and communities better identify and limit its spread, and issues a number of ways institutions in education, media, medicine, research, and government stakeholders can approach this issue (my emphasis).”
Today the Surgeon Admiral said: “We need to be able to recognize that we may have to shift our path from time to time based on new data. Doesn’t mean that people were wrong before. It just means that we’ve got to learn as we go.”
But, but … earlier this month he said: “Today, I’m making an official request to the general public for stories and research on #HealthMisinformation. This includes a public call to tech companies to transparently share what they know about the impact of misinfo on their platforms. To succeed, we need YOUR help.”
So, the medical doctor who said today that “We need to be able to hear all voices,” apparently is also the bureaucrat who not three weeks ago requested help in targeting those voices.
And he said: “Over the last 2 yrs, #HealthMisinformation has led people to decline #COVID19 vaccines, reject public health measures, and use unproven treatments. We know health misinfo has been harmful to individuals and communities, and we know it can spread far and wide with ease.”
Based on the past 2 years, I think rational laypeople and physicians alike have good reason to highly mistrust public health measures, public health officials, and official sanctioned, yet increasingly “unproven” treatments.
And let’s remember that in August, 2021 Surgeon Admiral Murthy said:
“I’m very disturbed when I hear about the efforts to restrict schools from requiring masks because we know that this is an important step to keep our kids safe.”
“We know the science supports the use of masks and reducing the spread of infection and why we would take that important layer of safety away from our children, especially during a surge of infection that we’re seeing with Delta really is concerning and perplexing.” That was obviously false then, and this functionary is already pivoting away from such a stupid, unpopular position.
And chillingly added:
“A lot of people have been robbed of the freedom to make the right choices (my emphasis) because they’re flooded by misinformation, particularly on social media channels.”
This apparatchik does not respect dissenting views, which he only wants to hear so that he can silence them.
Yes, Ben. And since we are on the topic of military things and history, quick, quick! Purchase The Liberators by Viktor Suvorov. It’s an insider’s story on why things don’t work in places that are that badly dysfunctional. His experience was with the Soviet Army and numerous other rattling atrocities of the USSR. Here’s a link to Amazon, although I do not love them. The Liberators: My Life in the Soviet Army In order to rise in the Soviet military hierarchy, one only needed a cruel passion for throat-cutting, back-stabbing and betrayal – no military prowess necessary.
You get what you pay for. Suvorov contended that the Warsaw Pact and the USSR itself was, by the end of the 70’s, a rickety Potemkin village of an Army, filled with idiots in uniform with brave warrior titles, who could not lead a troop of Boy Scouts. It wasn’t part of the job description.
And I have always had amused contempt for the mad puffery of the Uniformed PHS. If you have the title of Admiral, by god, you should at least be able to name the kinds of ships in the Navy! But they, like the Soviet General Staff, rise in the ranks without the risk of getting shot in the behind.
In today’s war in Ukraine, you can see that the Russians never restructured their order of battle, their command structure or their doctrine, and are getting whipped by generally decent home armies who just don’t want them in their neighborhood.
The care and breeding of useless bureaucrats is what Washington does nearly as well as Moscow. Contempt for the masses is necessary; the Tsar would be ashamed with how they (and we) think about the average citizen.
Leave a note here about what you think of The Liberators. It is the story of American Medicine within the next 5-10 years. An idiot in general staff uniform is still an idiot.
Bravo Steve.
What HAVEN’T you read?? LOL
The correct title for this article would be Stalinism in American medicine.
Asking the public to turn in what he determines is not the party line. Informers. Asking for the shutdown of opposing opinions. Censureship and Siberia.
Q: “What is the tallest building in Moscow?”
A: “The KGB Jail in the Lubyanka Building. From there, you can see Siberia!”
