Military Can’t Use 71% of Our Youth

Did you know that  71% of America’s youth would fail to qualify for military service because of physical, behavioral or educational shortcomings.  Causes included:

  • Obesity
  • Lack of a high-school diploma
  • Felony convictions
  • Prescription-drug use for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
  • Large-scale tattoos and devices called ear gauges that create large holes in earlobes.

The biggest culprit, however, was obesity.   Yes, America, we are now too fat to fight.  It’s embarrassing.

That’s okay, at least we’re in good company – same thing, more or less, happened to the Romans.

Everything worked out okay for them, right?

Considering that there are (supposedly) other jobs than being a grunt, what does this say about the systemic preparedness of American youth for having a regular job in the job market?
