Physician Associates: Has the Bus Left the Station
The term “physician associate” is the new narrative for physician assistants. The AMA and AOA have come out against it but it doesn’t matter. You can see that the AAPA is now putting up advertisements on buses. They are running the same playbook as the NPs. It’s obvious. If you ask the PA bigwigs, they will say they just want to compete with the NPs. That’s partly true. The other part is that they want full practice authority and are getting doctorates in medical science to call themselves doctors. Who supports this? You can read more in Dr. Newman’s post.
