They are symmetrical.
1. Both attacks by foreign agents
2. Both killed innocent citizens
3. The U.S. response to both was to grow government, restrict civil liberties, and enact new powers that would do nothing to stop the initial threat. And the stupid, cowardly citizens accepted it.
4. In both cases, our inflammatory response caused more damage than the initial attack.
