Here’s a Great Primer Article on Direct Primary Care
For those who don’t know, I am a huge Direct Primary Care fan. I did it for my last six years in practice. I wrote three books on how other doctors can do it. I helped start the DPC Alliance, a national organization and I blog and edit the website DPC News. Direct Primary Care, in my humble opinion, is the last and only hope for primary care in general. With this in mind, I want to share this article called How doctors across the country—fed up, burned-out, and disillusioned—are trying to reclaim the soul of medicine. It was written by Emily Silverman who is an internal-medicine physician at UCSF, writer, and creator of The Nocturnists. The article is LONG but hits every aspect of DPC. If you read it you will notice I am not mentioned even though I was the keynote speaker for the DPC Summit that year she came There is a joke, however, that the author repeats about a plumber and that was from my talk so my ego is assuaged.
If you ever want to know about DPC or how to start a Direct Primary Care clinic then read this article! If you have any questions then let me know. Or check out DPCnews.com.
