In The Lull…

When I saw this story, being ever-joyful in my confirmation biases (which are always better than yours), I was ready to jump in with both flip-flops. But the only primary source I could find was Infowars, and I like to double-source.

So, no COVID Panic 3.0, or 4.2, or whatever the hell, all good.  Then recently I had to look at this, Dr. Mandy Cohen and latest CDC Flunky-in-Chief Director blathering “We want folks to be reacting to what they’re seeing on the ground in their community and making sure that they’re protecting themselves.”  How, pray tell?

“And, yes, masking is one of those solutions that folks could choose to use to protect themselves from this virus. It’s important to know your own risk.”  Uh-huh.  I guess Dr. Cohen is behind in her reading, and hasn’t gotten the word that the ridiculous face coverings don’t work against aerosolized viruses.  But she put the usual plug-in for the (non)vaccines that seem to work until they don’t, adding, “But there are more things than masks. Remember, ventilation, don’t forget your vaccine, wash your hands, stay home when you’re sick.”  So, the CDC chief took a waffle on whether or not children should be ritually face diapered, but recognizing the practice as a “solution.”  Sure.

And the further terrify the easily terrified, the CDC is no longer printing new official federal vaccination cards, perfect for getting into NYC restaurants, or a concert from aging, has-been rock neurotics and petty tyrants.

“Many states offer digital vaccination records for individuals either online or through an app. Users can save a certificate or a QR code that proves they are vaccinated. And some websites will even track and alert patients when they’re due for another one.”

Track and alert …

And then in the very next paragraph <deep breath>:

“One of the positives (during the pandemic) was having increased autonomy on your patient record, especially the immunization record,” said Jeff Chorath, who manages the immunization information system in Washington state. Washington offers two digital options for obtaining vaccination records — a comprehensive list of all of a person’s vaccinations noted in the state database and one specific to COVID-19 vaccines.”

Did he mean the online database would give the individual more autonomy of action?  It reads to me like this guy wants a role in “1984:  The Musical.”  How in the hell do you have more autonomy “on” your information when it is maintained in a government database?  I wonder how many healthcare workers forged a card to skirt getting a shot for a virus from which they had already recovered?  None that I know, but I’ll bet they’re out there.

We don’t know whether the massive public health bureaucracy is preparing another nationwide clench, but their mouthpieces are keeping all options open.  We do know the population has been well-conditioned to react to the next convulsion with obedient irrationality, and that a lot of data collected last time might be useful the next time (to large, well-meaning bureaucracies, government-subsidized pharmaceutical companies, government-funded health care, and government-paid law enforcement).  And of course, there will be a next time.
