“Rock Not a Doc” Continues To Prescribe Benzos

I think it is time that I rip on the state nursing boards. I have absolutely hammered state medical boards for their quotas and their agendas to trash many doctors. It seems the opposite happens with state nursing boards. We have seen them do nothing to control misleading advertisements by NPs that are intended to confuse patients. We can look at those another time. But, remember this dude?

Young issued prescriptions for controlled substances, including the Schedule II controlled substances Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and others, and the Schedule IV controlled substances Alprazolam, Diazepam, Clonazepam, and others… outside the course of professional practice and without a legitimate medical purpose. Young’s motives in prescribing controlled substances to his patients were often to obtain money, notoriety, and sexual favors.”

Well, he is back at it:

While Young is no longer permitted to prescribe opioid drugs, he can still prescribe benzodiazepines like Xanax or Valium, per a 2018 settlement with the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Young has allegedly continued to prescribe these to patients who have been “doctor shopping.”

Where are his peers in this? Why are they not screaming from the rafters to shut him down? I think there needs to be an overhaul of each state board of nursing because we are finding a common theme where they cannot oversee and regulate their members, especially those NPs who are off the rails.

I am open to correction if I am wrong on this.
